![]() I, for one, can't even beat Drassen because the game freezes every time I get a headshot, or if I have a certain merc selected and I view a certain area. Ugh, it's a mod! And a buggy one at that. New tiles also add new strategic elements to the game. The new storyline is neat, if you thought the original was too comical or something.Īlmost, if not all maps have been drastically redone. This time around, even your cheap mercs often start with new gear, including some nice weapons, rather than the ol' "two six-shooters" from the original Jagged Alliance 2. Gameplay feature: Character development - Repetition.Existing weapons’ graphics and sounds have been replaced, aiming for a more realistic approach.Arulco's population is now more loyal to the local government, in addition to increased support penalties for civilian deaths.Changed difficulty of enemies, in both significant quantity (almost double the number) and quality (AI).All military facilities have increased defensive capabilities: Added mine fields, fences, snipers, watchtowers, perimeter lighting, and alarms.Modified and re-balanced items, gear and weapons bringing it closer to dangerous real-life situations.Over 80% of the maps have been modified (210 out of 260), including vegetation, buildings, roads, military facilities, etc. While Wildfire is technically no different from the original game (in story, gameplay, etc.), as it started out as a fan-made modification, the game introduces the following changes: It does also work with Wildfire apparently.Jagged Alliance 2: Wildfire is the second standalone expansion of Jagged Alliance 2. Stracciatella is a good way to go for the original (and Gold) game. What they mean is that it doesn't work with the original expansion but works OK with Gold. You can't buy UB on Steam on its own so the advice that 1.13 doesn't work with UB doesn't apply here. Hopefully the original "Classic" JA2 DLC for Wildfire is installed separately too if you want to use those files for 1.13. It does work with Gold but I don't know where UB fits in with the Steam install. I do know that the v1.13 mod does work with Wildfire but there is a separate section for it here. I own the games on CD and while I have keys for Steam I haven't installed any of the games this way. It's hard to say how everything will be downloaded on Steam. It's not very important these days anyway as mods greatly improve stability on modern computers. I don't know what version of Wildfire is on Steam but I assume it's 6. And it is not as complicated as the original JA" Gold with 1.13 update. Still, if you have played JA in the past, you will probably have lots of fun with Wildfire. You can get deep discounts on JA2:Wildfire and the DLC on sales.Įdit: I may have been wrong about the higher resolution and team-size of JA2:Classic DLC for JA2:Wildfire. With this, you get the better screen-resolution, bigger team-size on maps and various other little fixes provided by JA2:Wildfire, but the classic game/story of JA2. Right now I am planning to play JA2:Wildfire with the JA2 Classic DLC. (You have so many options there with wearables which all provide different slots to carry items with you, makes it somewhat complicated in my opinion.)
